Hi, I'm Jackie.I’ve been a brand marketer for 20 years, and that work is really around taking a business or a campaign to make it memorable and stick out in the market. I apply that same knowledge to my illustrations: I begin with understanding the emotion we want to convey and the feeling we want to leave behind, even going so far as to set up voice and tone and brand palettes before I start my work.

My Style and POV
As a mom of two, I buy so many books that have digital illustrations. Those books are fun and beautiful and many of those digital artists are so super impressive. But the books I’ve always been most drawn to are hand-drawn or hand-painted illustrations. They feel magical and mysterious to me. Do you remember the way you felt the first time you saw a painting of the secret garden, or one of Roald Dahl’s hand-drawn characters?
Life, nature, childhood–it’s messy and adventure-filled with a tinge of mystery and innocence. That was true of my childhood in the cornfields of Indiana, drawing my dolls and painting pictures of barns. That’s what I want to reflect in my watercolor, ink, and pastel illustrations today.
